7's Up: Review of The Candymakers

Today I have a guest review from one of my 7th graders who pretty much reads non-stop!  She's giving us her thoughts on a great Wendy Mass book - The Candymakers.

Title: The Candymakers
Author: Wendy Mass

Four children have been chosen to compete in a national competition to find the tastiest confection in the country. Who will invent a candy more delicious than the Oozing Crunchorama or the Neon Lightning Chew?
Logan, the Candymaker's son, who can detect the color of chocolate by touch alone?
Miles, the boy who is allergic to merry-go-rounds and the color pink?
Daisy, the cheerful girl who can lift a fifty-pound lump of taffy like it's a feather?
Or Philip, the suit-and-tie wearing boy who's always scribbling in a secret notebook?
This sweet, charming, and cleverly crafted story, told from each contestant's perspective, is filled with mystery, friendship, and juicy revelations.

Welcome Ms. Y!

Why did you decide to pick up this book and read it?
I decided that I liked Wendy Mass after I read Every Soul a Star. then I checked out what other books she wrote and found this and started reading it.

Did you like the book? Please explain why you liked it or not.
Yes, I loved this book, the reason is because there's a story of each of the 4 characters and they all tie up at the end, so its like you have to keep reading to find out the "puzzle".

What part did you like the best and why?
The end when all of the characters stories came together.

Tell me what you thought of the main character(s). Did you like him/her/them? Did you like how they acted/reacted to events in the story?
There was four character my favorite character is Daisy a girl who happens to be a spy she has to like play a different role for every mission for this mission shes supposed to steal the secret recipe and play the act of an innocent girl.

Would you recommend this book to a friend?
Umm I don't know many of my friends don't really like to read and this book is kinda hard to get at first I had to read certain things over to really understand it but it was worth it.

Tell me anything else about the book and your opinion of it that you want to share!
I pretty much already explained it but for more detail there the candymakers son that got burnt when he was little from a vault of hot chocolate when his friend through him a toy and he missed, later on you find out that this friend is the other character Phil that also in the candy making contes. Phil is also connected to daisy because when she was playing another role for another mission he had caught her and ruined her mission. Daisy's connected to miles because while miles was at a picnic he saw a girl go under water and never come back up and he thought she died but this was Daisy doing spy training so ya that's kinda cool how they all ended up coming together at a candy making contest.
